Chris Nelson is one of the world’s premier voice over talents and audio production engineers. Okay, maybe not the world, but definitely Western Iowa. Chris started voice acting at an early age by voicing a radio ad for the local Boy Scout troop. From there, Chris delved into the world of music and theatre. He spent many years studying music, both vocal and instrumental, and spent just as many years in the theatre both as a solo performer and part of an ensemble cast.
Thanks to the opportunity to attend numerous courses through the Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts, Chris has studied with various stars of the big and small screen alike. Chris played golf with legendary television casting director Eddie Foy III (The Mighty Kong), signed a get well card for Shelley Fabares (Coach), and walked by Kathleen Freeman (The Blues Brothers) who was in Blues Brothers 2000 with John Goodman, who was in Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon. After picking up all of the names he just dropped, Chris had a brief stint as a professional jazz musician with the Al Godfredsen Orchestra.
Since his move to the Des Moines metro area, Chris continues to hone his audio production and voice over skills by working with a number of the area’s foremost theatre companies like StageWest, Theater…for a Change, The Incoherent Theatre Company and more. He has had the pleasure of working on the audio production team for such shows as tick, tick… Boom!, A New Brain, The Underpants, Miss Witherspoon, Rabbit Hole, The Amazing Adventures of Nigel and Bridgette and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. His most recent work has been as the Sound Designer for The Dark Inferno and The Island of Dr. Moreau.
Chris continues to co-host a radio program of the year's top 40 hits on KDSN radio in Denison, which draws listenership into the tens of thousands. Chris is married to his wonderful wife (Abby), and enjoys the company of their Dalmatian (Arson).
